Bluffton University
Bluffton University, a Christian liberal arts college, is located in a northwestern Ohio village with a total area of about 3.5 square miles. Originally known as Central Mennonite College, Bluffton is affiliated with Mennonite Church USA. Students who decide to attend the university are required to live in on-campus housing throughout their entire college career, unless they live at home with their parents and can commute from a reasonable distance. For students interested in participating in activities away from the classroom, there are more than 40 extracurricular organizations on campus. Spiritual life is very popular at Bluffton, and many students take part in the Spiritual Life Week events that take place each semester. The Bluffton Beavers are members of the NCAA Division III and the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference, and the school fields more than a dozen varsity teams. Students looking to visit a larger city for the day only need to travel an hour north to Toledo or 90 minutes south to Dayton.When students are admitted to Bluffton University, they are expected to follow an honor code that is central to the core beliefs of the university. This system includes having no monitor in the classroom during test and examination periods. On every examination paper, the student is required to sign a contract that states they received no aid during the test. The university offers graduate programs in business and education. Bluffton students can participate in the Ministry Inquiry Program, a service-learning experience that allows students to explore what the ministry is like for 11 weeks in the summer.
