Arkansas State University (A‑State) is a public research university located in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and serves as the flagship campus of the Arkansas State University System. Founded in 1909 as a regional agricultural training school, it has grown into the second‑largest university in the state, enrolling nearly 18,000 students and offering a comprehensive range of bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs across disciplines such as business, engineering, education, sciences, health professions, and liberal arts. The university is classified as an R2 research institution (“high research activity”), blending strong academic and research opportunities with a student‑focused learning environment.   • Test-Optional: A-State is Test-Optional for most students; however, SAT/ACT scores may be required for specific scholarships or specialized programs (Average ACT: 23).
  • Required Coursework: 4 years English, 4 years Math, 3 years Science, 3 years Social Studies.
  • Application Fee: $30.

Graduate

  • Degree: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
  • GPA: Minimum 2.75 – 3.0 undergraduate GPA required (varies by program).
  • Materials: Transcripts, personal statement, and 2-3 letters of recommendation. GRE/GMAT scores are required for certain doctoral and business programs.
