The mission of the WVU Music Education program is to raise the status of music education regionally and nationally through cultivation of highly effective practice and relevant knowledge in undergraduate students, graduate students, and in-service music educators. Students who successfully complete the WVU Music Education curriculum and all tests required by the West Virginia Department of Education will be qualified for a professional certificate, Birth – Adult Music, that will enable them to teach instrumental, vocal, and general music in West Virginia schools.
