Advanced Diploma Architectural Technology

  • Advanced Diploma in Architectural Technology at George Brown College is offered as a 3 years (6 semesters) program.
  • It is an online program offered on a full-time basis.
  • This 3-year program provides students with the essential knowledge base and fundamental skills required to work as an Architectural Technologist within the many companies and sectors of the architectural and construction industry.
  • The graduate students have reliably demonstrated the ability to solve technical problems related to building projects through the application of principles of building science and mathematics.
  • The Architectural Technology program prepares students to apply current practices of the Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry, including:
    • Building design
    • Sustainability
    • Building codes and regulations
    • Building science
    • Construction law and contracts
    • Technical writing
    • Specifications
    • Cost planning
  • In addition to technical design skills, students will also develop and apply skills in computer-aided drafting (CAD), Building Information Modeling (BIM), 3D rendering, and digital modeling.
  • Students collaborate in teams within a simulated office environment to complete projects involving proposals, designs, and construction documents for both new and existing facilities.
  • If students enroll in the program in January, they are required to complete semester 2 in the summer (May to August) of the same year in order to continue into semester 3 in the fall.
  • A co-operative work experience component in the Architectural Technology program will also be available for a selected number of students.
  • Students who enter the program as a co-op students will have to complete semester 5 from May to August, and co-op placement will take place from September to December.
  • The final sixth semester will be offered through a blend of in-class and online studies, allowing students to graduate in April of their final year of study.
  • It will also allow students the opportunity to continue part-time work while completing their final semester of studies.
  • Graduates of the program also have the opportunity to earn a bachelor's degree in Architectural Technology and Construction Management upon completion of two semesters of study and an internship.
  • The average salary goes up to 38,250 USD after completing this program.

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students have completed an Ontario Secondary School diploma or equivalent degree.
  • Students must complete Grade 12 English (C or U) with 60% or higher.
  • Students also have to complete a Grade 11 Math (M or U) or Grade 12 (C or U) with 60% or higher.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria

  • Students must be graduated from senior secondary school.
  • Students have a minimum overall of 60% in 10th and 12th Grade for all streams.
  • Students also have a minimum overall of 50% in English and Maths in 10th and 12th Grade.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/PTE/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
