The PhD program provides advanced study and training to prepare students to be research scholars, with expertise in human factors, operations research, or production systems.

The University at Buffalo has three campuses: the North Campus in suburban Amherst, the South Campus on Main Street in a North Buffalo neighborhood and the growing Downtown Campus, encompassing several buildings in downtown Buffalo.

Academic Requirements:
- A bachelor degree or masters degree
- Official transcripts of all previous education
- GRE scores are required
- Letters of recommendations
- A personal statement highlighting past experience, achievements etc
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 550 for PBT; 79 for IBT; 8.5 for Essentials
- IELTS: Minimum 6.5
- Duolingo: Minimum 120
- Cambridge English: Minimum 185 in either advanced or proficient
