Bachelor of Arts [B.A]/Bachelor of Science [B.S] Biopsychology
- Biopsychology is an interdepartmental major for students particularly interested in neurobiology and animal behavior, and is offered jointly by the Department of Psychology and the Department of Biology.
- Ten courses of 3 semester-hour credits (SHUs) or more are required to complete the major. Five of these courses must be in Psychology and five must be in Biology.
- This course will survey current knowledge of human behavior. It will cover the entire spectrum of behavioral functions and examine the biological, cognitive, and social processes that underlie these behaviors.
- Topics will include the brain and functioning of the nervous system, perception, thinking, learning, and memory; conscious and unconscious motivations and emotion; language, intelligence, cognitive, social, and personality development; social perceptions, and their treatment; and mental health.
- The focus of the course will be on understanding the major theories of human behavior and on understanding the practical and theoretical implications of these positions.
