  • Master of Arts in Sociology is a 2 years program offered on a full-time basis.
  • The Department of Sociology and Anthropology offers two Master of Arts degree concentrations.
    • General Sociology
    • Applied Sociology
  • The general sociology concentration is primarily for students intending to continue graduate training leading to the PhD.
  • The applied sociology concentration is oriented toward students interested in gaining competency in applied social research skills relevant to a variety of private and public sector settings.
  •  Graduates of the department have obtained jobs such as federal probation officers, directors of residential treatment centers, research analysts, survey research specialists, etc.
  • Students are required to successfully complete 30-36 credits for the program.

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students must hold a bachelor's degree in sociology from a recognized university.
  • In lieu of this requirement, students who majored and minored in related subjects (social work, psychology, criminal justice) and who complete at least three (3) courses in sociology may be admitted under the condition that they enroll in and complete, with at least a grade of B, two upper-level undergraduate courses are also eligible to apply.
  • A GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 system is required.
  • Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTSTOEFL, or PTE scores.
