Executive Master of Business Administration [E.M.B.A]

  • The Executive Master of Business Administration at the University of California is a 22 months program.
  • It is an on-campus program offered on a part-time basis.
  • The EMBA program consists of 19 units of core courses and 22 combined units of elective coursework and immersion modules.
  • Core courses are taken in the first 3 terms and are designed to build upon one another. The final two terms offer challenging electives and the option to pursue independent studies.
  • A full 25 percent of the executive MBA curriculum is experiential, with 5 field immersions that explore leadership, innovation, entrepreneurship, international business, and business and public policy,
  • EMBA classes meet about every three weeks in three-day blocks from Thursday through Saturday, though some elective courses may include Sunday sessions.
  • The program starts in May, lasts 19 months, and is divided into 5 terms.
  • In addition, there are five immersions, one at the end of each block of classes, lasting 5-7 days for each immersion experience. With the exception of immersion weeks, most sessions will be taught on the Berkeley campus.
  • The program plans off-site learning experiences to bring its students closer to a variety of today's business challenges. Off-site locations have included Washington, DC, the Napa Valley, Silicon Valley, and Shanghai, Singapore, and São Paulo.
  • Department provides the faculty which will be a combination of tenured and tenure-track and professional faculty, chosen specifically for their ability to effectively teach to executives.
  • The Executive MBA Fellowship consists of a limited number of scholarships of $10,000 to $20,000 each.
  • The scholarships are awarded based on various criteria including outstanding merit, industry or function uniqueness brought to the incoming class, and/or employment in the nonprofit or public service sectors.

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students must have a bachelor's degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Graduates of recognized academic institutions outside the United States should have completed degree programs representing a minimum of 16 years of schooling with at least 12 years at the primary and secondary levels.
  • All students must submit results from either the GMAT, GRE.

English Language proficiency:

Students who received their degrees outside of the U.S. are required to demonstrate English Language Proficiency. To satisfy the University English Language Proficiency requirement, students must:

  • Have a basic degree from a recognized institution in a country where the official language is English.
  • Or, have completed a basic or advanced degree at an institution, in the U.S or abroad, where the language of instruction is English and the institution is accredited by one of the United States regional accrediting agencies.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
