The Japanese program at the University of Delaware is a dynamic environment, with highly trained, award-winning teachers and a variety of student-run clubs on campus. They are supported by the great facilities of the Language Resource Center in the own building as well as the Games Lab in Morris Library.

The proficiency-oriented communicative approach develops speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills, while an emphasis on social and cultural knowledge equips students to interact within the target culture confidently and successfully. The graduates have proceeded to prestigious graduate programs in East Asian Studies, Law, and Religious Studies both here in the US and in Japan.

Academic Eligibility: 

  • Students must have an official secondary school transcript to get admission.
  • Students required to maintain at least a 3.0 overall GPA.

Language Requirments:

  • Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores. 
  • Students are required to submit an SAT or ACT score to be considered for admission. 

International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
