Bachelor of Arts [B.A] Classical Studies

Many students select a double major or minor in archaeology, anthropology, English, biology (for pre-med) or history or political science (for pre-law).

Students are immersed in a variety of fields including Greek and Latin languages, ancient history, classical drama and mythology, and the influence of classical civilization on the modern world, especially in art, architecture and political and legal institutions. Students gain important analytical skills, such as critical thinking, persuasive writing and visual literacy.

A GW degree paves the way for careers in teaching, archaeology, museum work, publishing and library science. Learning Latin or Greek provides a powerful template for improving writing and mastering modern languages, in addition to being useful in medicine and law.

The Classical Studies program is offered at George Washington University.
