Doctor of Philosophy [Ph.D] Nursing

  • Dalhousie University offers a Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing program for a duration of 4 years.
  • It is an on-campus, thesis, and course-based program offered on both a full-time basis.
  • Nursing graduate students at Dalhousie receive a varied education, attending seminars, preparing academic papers, conducting research and, completing clinical practicums. 
  • Supervisors conduct performance and progress reviews quarterly in December, April, and July.
  • Students have to complete the course work in the first 15 months of the program and comprehensive exams are taken in the second year of the program.

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students should have completed a 4-year bachelor's degree such as BSc (Pharm), PharmD, BSc (honors), or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • A minimum GPA of at least 3.7/4.33 (B- grade) in the last 60 credit hours of study is required to be eligible for the program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they have completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
