Language and communication are vital parts of our human interaction. Studying linguistics is about understanding the role that language plays in our communication. This study lays the foundation for the specialized fields of language acquisition, socio-linguistic studies, translation, and more. • This program is completed in partnership with SIL-UND in Grand Forks, North Dakota, the organization that trains Wycliffe Bible translators and missionaries.
• Because the program requires two summers of courses completed on-campus at SIL-UND, linguistics majors graduate in three years or pursue another major.
• Students can become a linguistics tutor in the department.
