Bachelor of Arts [B.A] Environmental Studies

Basic scientific knowledge about environmental processes is used to inform different social goals. Students will develop a set of key competencies in earth systems science, environmental social science, human-natural systems and sustainability science to be able to solve specific environmental problems.

Students will take courses in biological sciences, economics, environmental studies, geology, geography, sociology, philosophy and political science.

Environmental Studies majors will:

  • Cultivate strong writing skills as you compose policy papers, research reports, case studies and essays.
  • Develop presentation skills while you share research findings and environmental perspectives with classmates and faculty.
  • Learn how to take a position on an issue and defend your stance.
  • Understand concepts in biology, geology and physical geography.
  • Need both quantitative and qualitative skills to solve problems and interpret research data.
  • Become proficient in the human aspect of the environment, how people impact the natural world, and interpreting this world for others.

  • ACT and/or SAT scores,
  • strength of high school college preparatory curriculum and grade trends.

Graduation Requirements:

  • Minimum 120 total credit hours and 42 upper-division credit hours
  • Minimum 2.000 cumulative GPA and 2.000 major GPA.
