Diploma Veterinary Technology

  • Dalhousie University offers a Diploma in Veterinary Technology for a duration of 2 years.

  • In this program, students will be prepared to work as a technician with practicing veterinarians, researchers, and other professionals who work with animals in medical or scientific environments.

  • Students will also learn about large animal practice, lab animals, and alternative pet medicine.

  • University will provide opportunities for students to learn outside the classroom through an off-campus externship.
  • Students can also work in the on-campus animal clinic, where they will learn the skills required to be successful in a companion animal veterinary practice.
  • In future studies, students may include completing a Bachelor of Science (Agriculture) or a Bachelor of Science in BioVeterinary Science.
  • The department provides many world-class facilities that are unique to the Atlantic region and include state-of-the-art technologies, a functional farm, expansive fields, and an aquaculture centre.

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students have to complete Grade 12 in the following courses with an average of 60% score:
    • Academic English 12
    • Academic Math 12
    • Academic Biology 12
    • Academic Chemistry 12
  • Students also have to complete one additional academic subject in Grade 12.
  • Students have to give a veterinary technology aptitude test for getting admission to this program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they have any one of the following certificates:

  • All-India Senior School Certificate (CBSE)
  • Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC)
  • Indian School Certificate (CISCE)
  • Or, another Senior Secondary School Certificate awarded after standard XII
