- The work of mathematicians falls into two broad classes-theoretical (pure) mathematics and applied mathematics. These classes, however, are not sharply defined and often overlap. Areas of focus include financial mathematics, mathematical biology, mathematical physics, mathematical statistics, or computational ma thematics.
- Mathematicians often work with other professionals such as engineers, computer scientists, biological and physical scientists, researchers, and others, to provide data as well as analysis of data.
- There are three majors available: Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, and Applied Mathematics with a concentration in financial mathematics.
