Bachelor of Science [B.S] Mechanical Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering is among the broadest and most versatile of the engineering professions. It includes robotics, control systems, mechatronics, medical devices, environmentally conscious energy systems including buildings, transportation, and renewable energy, machine design, solid mechanics, materials, including composites, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, manufacturing, or a combination of these fields as is often the case in the development of complex systems. Mechanical engineers can pursue careers in design, testing, manufacturing, research and development, sales, management, and consulting.
- The Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) program contains 79 credits of mechanical engineering coursework and 56 credits of other math, science, and engineering coursework.
- The mechanical engineering department changes its elective offerings every year and strives to provide a range of both contemporary and relevant topics to supplement the major program requirements. Students should work closely with their faculty advisor to discuss upcoming offerings to learn when different electives will be offered.

Academic Eligibility:
- Undergraduate applicants should have the equivalent of a U.S. grade-point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- Provide official, certified English language translations of all transcripts from each educational institution attended.
- Official external mark sheets should be submitted as part of the evaluation process in the educational system attended. Transcripts must have the official seal or stamp from the issuing institution.
- Students who have completed the Ordinary and/or Advanced Levels, or the International Baccalaureate must have the results sent directly from the testing agency.
- Applicants whose native language is other than English must demonstrate English proficiency regardless of the length of residency in the U.S., their citizenship, or their immigration status.
- Seattle University does not require the ACT or SAT of international freshman applicants. However, these scores do enhance an application, and sufficiently high critical reading and writing scores will be accepted in lieu of the TOEFL to demonstrate English proficiency.
