Master of Laws [L.L.M] U.S. Legal Studies
- LL.M. candidates are required to successfully complete at least 24 credit hours of classes over two semesters of study.
- All LL.M. candidates must take Introduction to Law (Fall, 3 units), Legal Writing and Research (Fall, 2 units), and one of the following first-year required courses: Contracts, Torts, Criminal Law, Property, Constitutional Law, or Civil Procedure.
- LL.M. candidates who choose to pursue a Certificate of Specialization in one of eight areas of specialization must earn at least 12 credits in their chosen area.
- All courses, with the exception of Introduction to Law and Legal Writing and Research, are taken together with UC Hastings Juris Doctor students.
- All LL.M. candidates must attend a 2 week orientation program prior to the beginning of classes.

Academic Eligibility:
- To apply to the UC Hastings LL.M. program, applicants must be an attorney licensed outside of the U.S. or have completed (or expect to complete prior to enrollment at UC Hastings) a first degree in law outside of the U.S.
Indian Students Eligibility:
- 3 year Bachelor’s + Bachelor of Laws; integrated five year Bachelor of Laws. Bachelor of Laws is considered first professional exam.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
