Master of Landscape Architecture [M.L.A.]

  • The Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture (MLA) at the University of Georgia’s College of Environment and Design provides the foundational knowledge, practical skills and design expertise needed to engage in both public service and private practice of landscape architecture.
  • It provides, through community engagement in service learning projects, development of the knowledge, skills and values required to attend to the health, safety and welfare needs of people, communities and the environment.
  • The MLA offers thesis and nonthesis options.
  • The nonthesis option has a greater focus on research-based design.
  • The non-thesis option will still require a defense and a positive committee vote to successfully complete the program.

Academic Eligibility:

  • Applicants must hold at least a baccalaureate degree accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting association or its international equivalent prior to the expected semester of enrollment, with the exception of University of Georgia undergraduate students enrolled in linked bachelors-masters programs.
  • A 3.0 GPA is considered the minimum for admission to the graduate program. 

Indian Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Students must complete a 4-year undergraduate degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
  • Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
