Master of Science [M.S] Accountancy

  • MSc in Accountancy is a 2-year program at Saint Peter's University.
  • It is an on-campus program i.e. classes meet in person one evening or Saturday each week for 3 hours 25 minutes. 
  • It is a 30 credit-hour program providing individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to keep pace with the changes in the practice of accounting.
  • A full-time student taking 18 credits/year should complete in 2 years or less.
  • A unique feature of the program is its focus on risk management and compliance issues, preparing individuals for the growing complexities of the corporate world.
  • Many states require 150 total credits to sit for the CPA exam. This degree, along with a 120 credit-hour undergraduate accounting degree, satisfies the course hours required to sit for the exam.
  • The combined MSA and MBA broaden a student’s foundation to include accounting, risk management, and compliance foundation to the breadth of knowledge gained in the MBA program.

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students should earn Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university or international equivalent with an undergraduate major in Accounting. 
  • If the undergraduate degree is in a discipline other than accountancy, the undergraduate prerequisite courses listed below must be successfully completed with a grade of C or higher prior to being admitted to the program.
    • Principles of Accounting I and II
    • Intermediate Accounting I and II
    • Macroeconomics
    • Microeconomics
    • One of the following upper-level courses: Cost Accounting, Taxation or Advanced Accounting Theory
    • Recommended, but not required: Statistics (if needed for State CPA exam)

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Completed a 4-year UG degree from a recognized institution
  • Or, completed a 3-year UG degree from an accredited institution 

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
