The Department offers broad coverage of biology in which this degree can be pursued. Areas of specialization include ecology, population biology, aquatic biology and limnology, genetics, physiology, comparative anatomy and morphology, microbiology, systematics, genetics and molecular biology. Each graduate student of the Biology program offered by Baylor University works closely with one or more faculty members, who direct the student's course work and research.

The Graduate Program of the Biology Department endeavors to provide an academic atmosphere in which graduate students and faculty can work together as a community of scholars. Through the free exchange of information, it is our goal that each student will broaden their intellectual perspectives, prepare for a productive career, and realize their potential as an individual and as a responsible and informed member of society.

The primary purpose of the M.S. degree in Biology is to develop in the student an area of biological expertise. This degree can be pursued in either of two emphases: (1) Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal biology (EEO) or (2) molecular, cellular, and developmental biology (CMHD). Such expertise is developed through coursework and an in-depth research experience that culminates in a thesis.
