- This involves studying the major figures of the western philosophical tradition and assessing the major options that have emerged. The student acquires the philosophical skills of inquiry, including critical thinking, the discovery and evaluation of basic assumptions, the analysis of concepts, the analysis of experience, and the construction and assessment of arguments.
- The philosophy major develops analytic and critical thinking skills essential to all professions. The major program can be tailored for careers in law, business, education, and many other professions.
