Bachelor Counseling - Rehabilitation Counseling

As a student of TROY’s rehabilitation counseling master’s program, you’ll cultivate unique skills, knowledge and abilities that will open doors for you to find a fulfilling career with a variety of state, federal and community agencies. These agencies include state vocational agencies and rehabilitation centers such as Goodwill Industries, Easter Seals, Wounded Warrior and Veterans Affairs. You will work closely with employers, institutes of higher learning and others to provide the services needed on an individual basis.

TROY’s dedicated and celebrated counseling and psychology staff will familiarize you with the laws and regulations that govern the disability field. In class, you’ll be equipped to understand the causes and treatments of disabilities as well as various counseling theories and techniques. Your degree will also prepare you to recommend workplace accommodations for individuals with various disabilities, perform labor market and job analyses and facilitate the employment of individuals with disabilities through advocacy and assistance with job searches.

One thing that makes Troy University’s rehabilitation counseling graduate program unique is that it is accredited by the Commission on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) as one program across multiple campuses. TROY’s master’s in rehabilitation counseling is currently offered on select campuses and through TROY Online. Benefits of having this approach include a diverse faculty and collaboration among students from different settings.

In 2014, the United States Department of Labor Statistics reported that demand for rehabilitation counselors is expected to grow 9 percent over the next 10 years. This need is due to an increase in the elderly population and the continued rehabilitation needs of veterans with disabilities.
