Master of Arts [M.A] English

  • Master of Arts [M.A] in English at the Auburn University is a 2 year, 30-credit program.
  • It is an on-campus program offered on a full-time basis.
  • Master of Arts, or MA, in English will advance students writing and research skills while providing students with an experience as university-level writing teacher.
  • Students will be well prepared for careers in writing, editing, business, secondary and community college teaching, and other professions seeking broadly educated individuals with excellent analytic and communication skills.
  • Many of our MA graduates pursue teaching and research careers and go on to attend doctoral programs in English, while others use their training to develop their craft as creative writers.

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students must complete a 4-year bachelor's degree.
  • Students may satisfy this requirement in French, German, Italian, Latin, Russian, Spanish, or any other language approved by the director of graduate studies.
  • A GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale is required to be eligible for the program.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Students must complete a 4-year undergraduate degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
  • Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Students need to submit a minimum GMAT score and GRE exam scores for a better chance of admission.

    Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
