Learning through a combination of classroom, laboratory, and supervised clinical setting instruction, Kent State nursing students graduate with a solid foundation of nursing knowledge.

As a BSN student at Kent State:

  • Srudent’s have access to an experienced undergraduate advisor to help you with class and program planning from beginning to graduation.
  • Student’s develop a strong foundation in your first year for the nursing courses that will be taken in subsequent years.
  • Student’s have hands-on learning experiences in our skills laboratory and our?state-of-the-art simulation laboratory.
  • Student will gain real-world experience with individuals, families, and groups by working with preceptors in?a variety of clinical agencies and affiliations?throughout the Stark County area, including in acute care, community care, and long-term care settings.
  • Student’s will learn about professionalism in nursing, how to research and think critically, and you will gain interpersonal skills.

  • High school mathematics, biology and chemistry (effective spring 2022, the completion of high school biology and chemistry is no longer required but recommended.
  • In addition, students must have achieved one of the following:
    • Minimum 2.7 overall high school grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and a minimum 22 ACT composite or a minimum 1100 SAT score.
    • Minimum 3.0 overall high school grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and a minimum 21 ACT composite score or a minimum 1060 SAT score. (effective spring 2022, minimum ACT and SAT scores will no longer be required)
    • Minimum 3.3 overall high school grade point average (on a 4.0 scale); and a minimum 20 ACT composite score or a minimum 1020 SAT score. (effective spring 2022, minimum 3.3 overall high school grade point average will no longer be required)
