Master of Arts [M.A] Economics
The MA in Economics program seeks to provide students with the analytical and quantitative skills to succeed in careers as professional economists in the world of higher education, government service, or private business. The primary focus is to prepare students for entry into the doctoral program of their choice.
Goals for the MA in Economics:
- Develop the mathematical techniques commonly used in the economics profession.
- Develop the statistical techniques commonly used in the economics profession.
- Develop analytical reasoning skills and evaluation methods used by professional economists.
- Promote the communication skills and intellectual curiosity necessary for the successful completion of a faculty-directed research project.
- Place students in doctoral programs of study.

Academic Eligibility:

Students must have at least one semester of calculus and one semester of statistics.

Students should have intermediate (2nd level) microeconomics and at least two semesters of calculus.

Econometrics, linear/matrix algebra, and intermediate macroeconomics would also be helpful preparation.
Indian Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Students must complete a 4-year undergraduate degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
- Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
