- Bioinformatics research lies at the intersection of biological/medical sciences and mathematics/computer science/engineering. The intention of the Bioinformatics option is to train students to become researchers in this interdisciplinary field.
- This includes the development of strategies for experimental design, the construction of tools to analyze datasets, the application of modeling techniques, the creation of tools for manipulating bioinformatics data, the integration of biological databases, and the use of algorithms and statistics.

Academic Eligibility:
- Students must have a bachelor's degree with coursework in Biochemistry.
- GPA of 3.2 out of 4.0.
Indian Student Eligibility:
- The minimum requirements are an overall average of 60% in each year, as well as in all prerequisite subjects. Subjects must include mathematics, and two of biology, chemistry, or physics in Class 11 and 12.
- GPA of 3.0/4.0 [B Grade].
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
