  • The mission of the Department of Infectious Diseases is: To educate graduate and professional students as to the causes of and prevention of bacterial, fungal, viral, and parasitic diseases, and methods of identifying and protecting humans and animals; To train graduate and professional students in advanced technologies in order to protect the human population from emerging diseases.
  • To develop new technologies at both the graduate level and professional levels and affect the transfer of these technologies so as to assure the safety and welfare of our food production and companion animals; And finally to conduct basic research on microbial pathogenesis, the molecular biology of microbial and parasitic pathogens, and the mechanisms of immunity.

Such admission must be to an authorized field and must be approved by the dean of the Graduate School.
  • Persons holding a baccalaureate degree, or a foreign equivalent, from a regionally accredited institution are eligible to apply for admission to the Graduate School.
