  • The program curricula emphasize skills and knowledge that are fundamental to the diverse music discipline: music theory, music history, performance, aural and keyboard training, orchestration, composition, conducting, private study on a principal instrument, and ensemble participation. 
  • This Music program is offered by the University of Illinois at Chicago.
  • Core course requirements for all majors include two years of work in theory and aural skills. All programs also include course work in piano, music history and literature, analysis, digital music, and ethnomusicology. Beyond these, each of the four majors adds requirements particular to its focus.

Academic Eligibility: 

  • Students must have an official secondary school transcript to get admission.
  • Students required to maintain at least a 3.0 overall GPA.

Language Requirments:

  • Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores. 
  • Students are required to submit an SAT or ACT score to be considered for admission. 

International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
