  • The University System of Georgia M.D./Ph.D. Program trains students in the research and clinical skills that will enable graduates to translate research findings into clinical outcomes.  This seven- to eight-year program prepares a diverse group of students who have a passion for medical research and a dedication to serving others for rewarding careers in biomedical research or in academic medicine.
  • Unlike many MD/PhD programs which adhere to a fixed entry schedule, the Augusta University - Medical College of Georgia curriculum offers greater flexibility, allowing students to enter at various stages of their medical education. The degree itself can be completed at the University of Georgia.

  • An applicant may be admitted as a prospective candidate for the Doctor of Philosophy degree upon certification by the major department that he or she is a person of proper attainment and promise, that appropriate courses may be adequately given, and that the student’s research can be adequately supported and directed. Such admission must be to an authorized field and must be approved by the dean of the Graduate School.
  • Persons holding a baccalaureate degree, or a foreign equivalent, from a regionally accredited institution are eligible to apply for admission to the Graduate School.
