Actuaries assemble and analyze data to estimate the probability and likely cost of the occurrence of an event such as death, sickness, injury, disability or loss of property. It is consistently one of the most secure and highest-paying professions available, even during tough economic times. Annual starting salaries for graduates with a bachelor degree in actuarial science can be as high as $50,000.

The Bachelor of Science Actuarial Science (AS) Program at The University of Texas at Dallas is administered through the Department of Mathematical Sciences.

Students receive a rigorous mathematical background including all the major courses taken by students majoring in mathematics or statistics. Further, ten courses devoted to finance, economics, applied statistics, insurance, and actuarial science are required.

Academic Eligibility: 

  • Students must have an official secondary school transcript to get admission.
  • Students required to maintain at least a 3.0 overall GPA.

Language Requirments:

  • Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores. 
  • Students are required to submit an SAT or ACT score to be considered for admission. 

International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
