Advanced Diploma Power Engineering Technology

  • Advanced Diploma in Power Engineering Technology degree at the Cambrian College is offered a 3-year (7 semesters) program.
  • This program will be delivered through both traditional classroom and online learning.
  • This program will help students maximize their career opportunities by preparing to challenge the TSSA 2nd Class Operating Engineering exam.
  • Students will also prepare for supervisory and management roles in power plants and other industrial settings.
  • In this course, students will gain knowledge and skills in all aspects of power plant operation and maintenance, both theoretical and practical.
  • Theoretical concepts discussed in class are further explained and illustrated in the College's Power Plant Training Facility, a registered 2nd Class plant where will help to operate and maintain working equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  •  It is important to note that the qualifying time reduction will not be available to students who choose the online-only version of the third year.
  • Each year, the college offers a variety of opportunities for students to work across disciplines in exciting community and College endeavors.  
  • The teacher-to-student ratio is 1:17 which helps increase interaction between professors and students.
  • Students can get opportunities for experiential learning through clubs and competitions.

Academic Eligibility:

  • A minimum of 60% is required in each prerequisite course.
  • Students must qualify to obtain their OSSD (Ontario Secondary School Diploma).
  • Ontario High School applicants require the following Grade 30 credits (an overall average of 70% is required):
    • Any grade 12 English (C) or (U)
    • Any grade 12 mathematics (C) or (U) (MCT4C is highly recommended)
    • Any grade 11 (U) or 12 (U) or (C) chemistry or physics 
    • Grade 12 technological design or manufacturing technology course (C) or (U)

Others:

  • Students must be 19 years or older before the beginning of classes.
  • Students who are graduated from Ontario Secondary Schools and who have obtained their diploma (OSSD) or certificate (OSSC) may be considered for admission on an individual basis for some programs delivered at the College. 

Indian Student Eligibility:

  • The students must have completed 10th and intermediate i.e 12th grade which has the minimum with 70% marks.
  • The minimum qualification required to attend this program is a higher secondary school certificate.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
