Master of Arts [M.A] Performance
The Master of Music - Performance degree is for concentrated study in an applied area and is designed to prepare the student for professional music activities including solo performance, orchestral playing, ensemble playing, collaborative performance, studio teaching, and doctoral study. The program emphasizes development of skills, knowledge and background in the following areas: literature and repertoire, performance skills, practice skills, interpretation and expression, performance pedagogy, historical performance practices, music history and music theory.
Applied areas of study are: bass, bassoon, cello, clarinet, flute, horn, oboe, percussion, piano, saxophone, trombone, trumpet, tuba, viola, violin & voice.
This degree program also allows for a specialization in the performance of chamber music.
The objectives of the program are:
- Students recognize, identify, interpret and perform representative literature from different historical periods, countries and composers.
- Students will develop and apply advanced performing skills including tone production, accuracy, intonation, instrumental/vocal technique, musicality/expression, vocal language and diction, and stage presence/presentation in solo and ensemble settings.
- Studetns will identify, explain and utilize performance pedagogy appropriate to the specific area of study.

Academic Eligibility:
- Students must a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university to get admission to this program.
- Students require a minimum GPA of 3 on a 4.0 scale for the program.
Indian Student Eligibility:
Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:
- Students must complete a 4-year undergraduate degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
- Students need to submit minimum GRE exam scores for a better chance of admission.
- Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
