Diploma Mechanical Engineering Technology

Students work in Sheridan's sophisticated laboratory environment with the most current tools and techniques, doing project-oriented assignments that simulate the workplace responsibilities of mechanical engineering technicians. You'll acquire a broad base of fundamental knowledge, along with job-specific skills that employers seek. Mechanical Engineering Technology students can apply for a paid co-op work term, supplementing their education with paid work experience. Enrolment is limited through an additional co-op selection process.You'll also get a solid academic foundation in basic math and science, as well as classroom instruction in advanced subjects such as calculus, kinetics, machine dynamics, energy systems and industrial practice. Students can graduate after four terms as a mechanical engineering technician, or stay on for a third year to acquire an advanced diploma. Sheridan graduates can transfer to a number of universities to obtain bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology. Graduates have completed all the academic requirements for professional certification with the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists (OACETT). Additional requirements for certification exist and are established by OACETT.
