Bachelor of Science [B.S] Animal Science

  • The program of study includes application of basic principles of selection, animal breeding, animal nutrition, reproduction, feeding and management of livestock for the production of meat, milk and wool. The equine program of study is also an application of basic and applied sciences to equine production for horses used as work or companion animals.
  • The Animal Science major is also recommended for students wishing to enter a program of study in veterinary medicine.

At UGA, the only minimum score requirements in place are the ones required by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia for admission to its research universities: that is, an SAT-CR of 430 and SAT-M of 400, or subscores of 17 on both the English and Math sections of the ACT.

Persons seeking admission to the University of Georgia Graduate School must hold a baccalaureate degree from an institution accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting association or its international equivalent prior to the expected semester of matriculation with the exception of University of Georgia undergraduate students enrolled in linked bachelors/masters programs. Applicants should be ranked in the upper half of their undergraduate class. Applicants are responsible for submitting application materials required for admission.
