Bachelor of Science [B.S] Mathematics
We offer undergraduate and graduate students a program of study leading to professional competence in teaching, mathematical research, or in an area of application. Additionally, we serve the entire student population at UCI by providing required courses in Mathematics. The Department population includes approximately 110 graduate students, over 615 undergraduate majors, and numerous students completing minors, specializations, and concentrations.
The curriculum in mathematics includes opportunities for supervised individual study and research, and dissemination of knowledge through seminars and colloquia. The undergraduate program leads to a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics whereas the graduate program leads to a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics or a Master of Science degree.
Graduate students are offered financial support through research associate and teaching assistant positions and through a department GAANN (Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need), a federal grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Education, which provides fellowships to graduate students with excellent records who demonstrate financial need and determination to pursue the highest degree available in their course of study.
