Doctor of Philosophy [Ph.D] Statistics

  • Doctor of Philosophy in Statistics at the University of California Los Angeles is a 5 years (15 quarters) program.

  • Students are expected to complete the PhD degree within 6 quarters of full-time work. Completion of all degree requirements normally takes 15 quarters.
  • Students are advanced to candidacy and awarded the Candidate in Philosophy (C.Phil.) degree upon successful completion of the written and oral qualifying examinations.
  • The UCLA departments organize many different types of seminars related to the Statistics program for the enrollment of the students to increase their skills.
  • UCLA is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and by numerous special agencies.

Academic Eligibility:

  • Students must complete a master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Students hold a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale in the graduate study.
  • Students need to submit a minimum GRE exam score for a better chance of admission.

Indian Student Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Students must complete a 4-year undergraduate degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution
  • Or, students completed a master's degree with first-class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
