Bachelor of Arts [B.A] Music

  • Although this rigorous program primarily addresses Western classical music, it also incorporates the study of world music cultures in both their art and vernacular traditions, as well as more modern American traditions such as Jazz.
  • Two undergraduate majors are offered: the bachelor of music, which especially develops the student’s attainment in performance, and the bachelor of arts, which cultivates greater breadth in the student’s academic achievement.

Academic Eligibility:

  • Applicants must have passed 12th grade from a recognised institution
  • GPA of 3.0
  • Frosh students who wish to major or minor in Music should plan to take a performing ensemble andlarge-lecture GE Music course during their first quarter.
  • Additionally, frosh students who plan to focus on a classical performance track (such as the B.M. degree or Western Art Music concentration of the B.A. degree) are advised to concentrate on developing a high level of skill on their principal instrument or voice.
  • For these students, private music instruction during high school is highly recommended.
