Bachelor of Science [B.S] Materials Science & Engineering
The knowledge of mathematics and engineering principles gained in the Materials Science and Engineering major creates a strong foundation for students to learn about the structure, properties, and behavior of metals, ceramics, glasses, polymers, semiconductors, and composites. Graduates in this major learn about existing materials, including human made materials, biomaterials, and cultural materials, and they also learn how to make new materials. Career possibilities range from design, consulting, and project based work for government agencies and the recreation, energy, building, technology, housewares, and many other industries, as well as cultural/historical restoration and preservation.
