Upon completion of the requirements for a Bachelor of Science degree, students are eligible to take the Geologist Registrants in Training Exam, which is the first requirement toward professional registration. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of this program, a minor is not required for the Bachelor of Science degree in geology.

Students interested in the application of geology in environmental studies may take courses emphasizing hydrogeology. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of this program, a minor is not required by the university.
