- As an English major at UNO, you may choose a concentration that best suits your interest ? professional writing, journalism, prelaw, or creative writing. If your focus is on creative writing, you could submit a piece to Ellipsis, the literary magazine published annually by the English department; if you have a more journalistic bent, you could contribute to the school newspaper, Driftwood.
- To expand your practical experience even further, you may take advantage of our internship program. Recent examples of our students? internships include working for Gambit and Cultural Vistas, two New Orleans magazines; the Corps of Engineers? Public Affairs and Planning Offices; UNO Information Services; the Louisiana State Representative?s Office; a technical firm that publishes equipment manuals and proposals; or the marketing office for the New Orleans Zephyrs.
