Bachelor of Science [B.S] Biological Sciences

Faculty members are engaged in research on campus and around the world, regularly collaborating with other leading researchers at the National Institutes of Health and the Smithsonian’s National Museum of Natural History.

Related majors are geology and anthropology. Students may select a minor in any other department or program.

GW’s biological sciences program equips students with knowledge about a broad range of biological topics, including molecular biology, ecology, evolution and taxonomy. Students graduate with an understanding of the complex structure of the living world at the molecular, cellular, organismal and ecosystemic levels.

Many students majoring in biology go on to medical, dental or veterinary schools. Some continue in graduate programs in biology. Others find employment in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries or in government.
