Bachelor of Arts [B.A] Journalism
The UA program balances journalism theory and practice with emphasis on the humanities, arts and sciences. Every class is taught by a former or currently practicing journalist. The department offers undergraduate instruction in reporting, editing, photojournalism, design, internet research and publishing, ethics and media law. Students produce two community newspapers, the Tombstone (Ariz.) Epitaph and the bilingual El Independiente for South Tucson, Ariz., and a television news magazine, The Cat's Eye. Numerous scholarships and awards are available to students, as are many internships in Tucson and across the country. The department has an excellent success record in placing graduates with the Associated Press, Gannett, Knight-Ridder and Pulitzer publishers and other media organizations.
