Bachelor of Arts [B.A] Italian Studies Emphasis
The program provides training in Italian language, literature and culture. Students may also study abroad in Italy. Most upper-division courses are taught in English and satisfy general education requirements. Options are offered in literature and Italian studies. Each option requires students to complete ITAL 202 as a prerequisite to upper-division courses.
The knowledge gained from a major in Italian of spoken and written Italian, as well as of Italian history, culture, cinema, and gender studies, forms a strong career foundation. Graduates may work in translation, education, communications, business, or cultural promotion. This major also prepares students for graduate study in Italian, international business, art history, or comparative literature. Italian, like many majors, teaches content and skills that can be applied to a wide variety of career fields. This major does not restrict you to a specific field.
