It includes a variety of offerings in the social sciences, physical and life sciences, and the humanities. The program serves as preparation for analyzing broad-based environmental and development policy, both domestically and internationally.

In addition to a Bachelor of Arts in environmental studies, students can also major or minor in geography or minor in geographic information systems. As an alternative track the Sustainability Minor is also available to students.

After taking a core group of foundational courses, students will select from offerings in science courses (including biological sciences, chemistry, geology and geography) and 'society' courses in economics, geography, history and public policy.

Environmental studies is a platform for student engagement on many levels. Students can also participate in campus organizations such as Green GW and the Food Justice Alliance.

The Environmental Studies program is offered at George Washington University.
