It is a transdisciplinary field that is physics (optics, photonics), chemistry (spectroscopy, chromophores, nanomaterials), biology, biochemistry, medicine (DNA, proteins, cells, tissues, organisms) , engineering (instrumentation) and ethics (in medicine, biology, environment and research).
