Bachelor of Science [B.S] Statistics

Statistics is a science of information gathering, data analysis and decision making. The department offers a major in statistics as well as a joint major in statistics and mathematics. Students looking to apply statistics in industry, government, or in applied areas of graduate study should focus on the statistics major. Those interested in graduate study are encouraged to pursue the joint major. You will take courses in survey sampling, experimental design, quality control, biostatistics, and modern data analysis, together with courses in mathematical statistics and probability theory. The major provides excellent preparation for careers in industrial statistics, actuarial science, biostatistics, and research. Our students have had internship opportunities with Google, Merck, City of New York Department of Investigation, and more!

Academic Eligibility:

  • SAT/ACT Scores (with writing) [not needed if graduated from high school two or more years before the dates the classes start at SEBS or if the applicant have finished secondary school and have received at least 12 college credits with final grades by the admissions application due date.]
  • Completed application form
  • $70 nonrefundable application fee
  • Official high school transcript(s) with final grades for all coursework with a certified translation in English. In addition, students might be asked to provide translated syllabi or course descriptions for faculty evaluation once on campus.
  • If applicable, official college transcript(s) for all colleges previously attended with a certified translation in English.
