Bachelor of Arts [B.A] Music
Through the courses and performances offered by University of La Verne, the? students will develop an understanding of artistic expression as an essential part of life and learn skills essential to musicians today.?
Students may choose a major or minor with a concentration in performance, history, or theory/composition.The department has a unique relationship with the total educational experience in that students majoring in other areas are invited and encouraged to participate in all classes, ensembles, and applied lessons. Students are given the opportunity to initiate and/or continue development of their musical interests and talents.
Learning Outcomes
Graduates of the Music program will:
- acquire a foundation in music theory, history, and literature and performance;
- learn to appreciate a broad spectrum of musics from the Western art tradition, musics from the United States, and the music of diverse cultures;
- initiate and/or continue development of musical interests and talents;
- learn skills essential to musicians today and value artistic expression as an essential part of life;
- be knowledgeable about the connection among musical expression, lifelong learning and personal growth; and/or
- gain acceptance into appropriate graduate programs.
