Bachelor of Science [B.S] Sound Recording Technology

  • DePaul’s Sound Recording Technology program prepares students for a career in the audio industry as a sound engineer. As a School of Music students, they are required to take a standard sequence of music courses, but the majority of the sound engineering degree courses they will take will provide extensive training in contemporary music technology.
  • As students work toward their sound engineering degree, your recording classes and practicum sessions take place at Studio DePaul, a digital Pro Tools facility with surround sound and digital video capabilities, as well as commercial studios off-campus.
  • Chicago is known for its vibrant music and theatre scene. Concerts of nearly every genre take place each night in the city, and popular music festivals like Lollapalooza and Pitchfork take place in the summers.
  • Dramatic theatre, comedy, improvisation and musical theatre performances take place throughout the city, with nationally touring Broadway shows being one of the most popular attractions.

Academic Eligibility: 

  • Students must have an official secondary school transcript to get admission.
  • Students are required to maintain at least a 2.0 overall GPA.

Language Requirments:

  • Students whose official language is not English are required to submit IELTS or TOEFL scores. 
  • Students are required to submit an SAT or ACT score to be considered for admission. 

International students who currently or will hold a degree from an institution where English is the primary language of instruction, do not need to submit a TOEFL or IELTS score report.
