SUNY Polytechnic Institute's B.A. degree emphasizes the application of sociological and anthropological knowledge in the search for innovative solutions to pressing individual and community problems. Effective consideration of these issues requires a thorough grounding in social theory, literacy in the appropriate research, and training in quantitative and qualitative research methods.SUNY Poly offers two specializations in applied sociology: criminology and social services. Sociology majors often have minors in anthropology, criminal justice, crime analytics, psychology, and technology and culture.

Academic Eligibility:
- Applicants are required to submit their high school degree from an accredited institution.
- Students should have an average GPA: A-/A.
Indian Eligibility:
- Students are required to have a high school average of 85% or higher by U.S. standards to be considered for admission from a recognized university.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
