- Veterinary schools seek applicants that demonstrate the ability to handle a rigorous academic course load, who have had extensive experience in the veterinary field, and demonstrate personal characteristics that will make them a positive addition to the veterinary profession.??? Becker?s pre-veterinary curriculum allows students to pursue higher level science courses to explore their interests and prepare for graduate studies.? Four hundred hours of externship hours are required of all pre-veterinary graduates, but other volunteer and work experience is strongly recommended prior to the formal externship to prepare for applications and explore the profession.?
